Paralympic Games to kick-off in London today

The 2012 Para Olympic Games will kick off in London today with an opening ceremony, expected to feature more than 3,000 performers. Titled 'Enlightenment', the opening ceremony will exhibit the artistic expression of the Directors – Bradley Hemmings and Jenny Sealey – their teams and the culture of the host nation.Showcasing the excellence of deaf and disabled artists, the ceremony will open with a fly past by Aerobility, a British charity that trains disabled people to become pilots. The ceremony will also feature a parade of all competing nations and the entrance of the Paralympic Flame, which ignites the Cauldron and signals the start of the Games.More than 4,000 athletes are participating in the Games, which will conclude on the 9th of next month. Among the 10 Indian players, five are from athletics, three from power lifting and one each from swimming and shooting.
