Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli has been sworn in as new Chief Justice of Nepal. President Bidya Devi Bhandari administered the oath of office and secrecy to Justice Parajuli at Kathmandu today. <br/><br/>Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Speaker Onsari Gharti, chiefs of constitutional bodies, judges of Supreme Court and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion. The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) on Sunday unanimously approved Justice Parajuli's name for the post of Chief Justice. <br/><br/>He was officiating as acting Chief Justice after the retirement of Chief Justice Sushila Karki on June 6, 2017. Born on April 28, 1953 in Tanahun district, Justice Parajuli practised law for a long time. <br/><br/>He was appointed Ad-Hoc Justice at appellate court in 1990.
