Paradigm shift is required in urban planning: Hardeep Singh Puri

Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri has said that a paradigm shift is required in urban planning which places sustainability at the core of development. Mr Puri was speaking at the inaugural session of a National Seminar on Emerging Trends in Public Architecture in New Delhi today. <br />''<br />''Talking about the marvelous architecture works by the Central Public Works Department, CPWD, the Minister said, from building office space for both the Central and State Governments, to providing housing for government employees, CPWD has been the nation's go-to organization.<br />''<span style="color: #222222;"><br />''Mr Puri said, cities in near future will have to be much smarter and as part of these cities the Public Buildings and its architecture will also need to be smart. He said, significant steps are already being taken to evolve Smart Cities by the government. The day-long seminar will have deliberation on challenges in the execution of works by CPWD.</span><br />
