Experts at the ongoing Aviation Conclave in Hyderabad have emphasised the need for an aeronautical commission to implement proactive regulations for safety and passenger amenities for the growth of aviation sector in the country.Speaking at the conclave on Friday, former Director-General, Civil Aviation, H S Kola suggested proficiency checks for foreign pilots at induction level as it was necessary for them to handle Indian conditions like fog in winter, monsoon and shorter runways.He further said there was need to develop a regulation system where the helicopter operators got support from the local government for improving safety, including information on weather conditions.Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) President P S Goel called for setting up an aeronautical commission as part of a vision to make India an aviation power by 2030. Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister V K Saraswat while endorsing the need for an aeronautical commission said there was a problem with the quality of most of the aeronautics engineers passing out of various institutes each year except from IITs.The three-day Aviation Conclave organised by the Hyderabad chapter of the Aeronautical Society of India will come to a close today.
