Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya today said a high-power committee will be submitting a White Paper on the functioning of ESI hospitals in six months. <br/><br/>Addressing a media conference in Hyderabad, he said the panel will visit various centres in the country to study all ESI hospitals and dispensaries to monitor and study the existing system. This was decided at the first meeting of the Committee held in Hyderabad today. <br/><br/>The Minister said the committee also decided to give accreditation to all ESI hospitals through National Accreditation Board depending on the performance and other parameters. <br/><br/>There are 151 ESI hospitals and over 14 hundred ESI dispensaries in the country. Dattatreya said the ministry has proposals to convert one third of the ESI dispensaries into six and 10-bed hospitals. <br/><br/>Replying to a query, he said the government has issued executive orders to ensure contract workers get a minimum wage of Rs 10,000 per month adding the issue is currently under the examination of the Law ministry.
