Pandit Jasraj nominated for prestigious 'Bharat Muni Samman' 2010

Noted Hindustani vocalist Padma Vibhushan Pandit Jasraj has been nominated for prestigious 'Bharat Muni Samman' for the year 2010. The award, instituted by Bhubaneswar based cultural Institution Kalingayana Touryatrikam, carries a cash prize of 25,000 upees, a plaque and a citation. Pandit Jasraj will be presented the award by Orissa Governor MC Bhandare on 17th of this month in Bhubaneswar. Pandit Jasraj will be the third Maestro to receive this award for his life time contribution towards promotion, propagation and popularization of Indian classical art across the globe. The earlier recipients were famous Bhartanatyam Exponent Thankamani Kutty in 2008 and Octogenarian Kathak Virtuoso Pandit Birju Maharaj in 2009.
