The Arunachal Pradesh Assembly passed the Arunachal Pradesh District Planning Committee (Amendment) Bill, 2014 on Thursday, paving the way for panchayats and municipalities to participate in the planning process in the districts.The bill, passed through voice vote, was introduced in the House on July 25th by Town Planning and Urban Local Bodies Minister, Pema Khandu, and is aimed at constituting the district planning committee and consolidating the plan prepared by panchayats and municipalities in the districts. Khandu, making a statement in the House said that the Bill aims at preparing a five-year prospective plan and draft development plan for the districts.
