Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats Ali Mohammad Sagar has stressing that aim of holding Panchayat Elections in the State is to empower the rural masses in policy implementation and formulation. He said, the people who are against the same are the real enemies of the people. The Minister was speaking at the All Party Meet convened in Jammu to discuss and gather feedback about holding of Panchayat Elections. The meeting was attended by all major parties of the State. Describing Panchayats as an effective institution for accelerating the development of rural areas of the State, Mr. Sagar said that by involving the rural people in this, the power will be decentralized to the grass-root level which forms the basis of a democratic set up. He said that it would also bring about transparency in the implementation of different schemes. The representatives of different political parties while putting forth their suggestions and views were unanimous that the Panchayat elections should be held at the earliest.
