In Uttar Pradesh, the three-tier Panchayat elections scheduled in four-phases would be held as per the notification issued earlier in this month. The election will be held on 11th, 14th, 20th and 25th of next month. The counting will take place on October 28 and 30.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports the Supreme Court stayed the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court order delivered on 16th of this month with regards to reservation to Scheduled Tribe candidates in the forthcoming Panchayat elections.A division of the court had directed the state government to revise or modify the final list of reservation of seats of Gram Pradhans in districts where members of Scheduled Tribes have a substantial presence and accordingly reduce the number of seats allocated to the members of the Scheduled Castes. The government has filed a SLP in the apex court against the high court order.
