Palmolein case posted to February 11

A Vigilance Court in Thiruvananthapuram today posted the trial in palmolein import graft case to 11th February. The Central Vigilance Commissioner P J Thomas and former late Chief Minister K Karunakaran figure in the list of accused.The court observed that the apex court order vacating the stay on the trial of the case had been received. However, other documents related to the case were yet to be received by the court. The case related to loss to the tune of 2.32 crore rupees allegedly caused to the exchequer by import of palmolein in 1991-92 when Karunarakan was the chief minister and P J Thomas the Food Secretary and a member of the Board of the Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation.
