President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas has urged the international community to turn the year 2017 into an end of Israel's occupation of Palestine. Addressing the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly, he said 2017 would mark 50 years since the Israeli regime occupied the Palestinian territories after the 1967 war. He criticized Israel's continued settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank.
