The Palestinian leadership in the Occupied West Bank has agreed to resume indirect peace talks with Israel. The news came as the Obama Administration announced a new attempt to re-launch the Middle East Peace Process by sending two senior envoys to the region.

Face to face talks between the two parties remain a way off but the development means that the Palestinian leadership is prepared to re-enter formal negotiations with Israel but only through a US mediator. The Palestinian President Mehmoud Abas and his Fatah Party had previously said they would not do so unless Israel offers a complete halt to settlements building on the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
