Palestine President arrives on 4-day visit to India

President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas arrived New Delhi last night on a four day State visit. During his stay in New Delhi, President Abbas will visit C-DAC in Noida today to forge cooperation between Palestine – India Techno Park being built by India in Palestine and Indian IT industry. He will also visit India Islamic Cultural Centre in New Delhi.<br/>'<br/>Tomorrow, he will be given a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan and he will lay wreath at Mahatma Gandhi's Samadhi, Rajghat. After that, Delegation-level discussion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be held. In the evening, President Pranab Mukherjee will host a banquet in honour of the visiting dignitary. <br/>'<br/>The visit of President Mahmoud Abbas will provide an opportunity for reviewing the entire gamut of bilateral relations, regional and international issues. MoUs on cooperation in various sectors are also expected to be signed during the visit.<br/>'<br/>This is his third State visit to India. Earlier, he had held substantive meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September 2015.<br/>'<br/>India and Palestine enjoy historically close and friendly ties. India has always played a proactive role in garnering support for the Palestinian cause in multilateral fora. Apart from the political support to the Palestinian cause, India continues to support developmental projects in Palestine by extending technical and financial assistance. <br/><br/>It offers 25 scholarships for Palestinian nationals for higher studies in India. It also offers one hundred slots to Palestinian nationals for training courses in India. Tourist visa on arrival is also available to the people of that country.

Palestine President arrives on 4-day visit to India

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in New Delhi today on a four-day visit. During the visit, he will hold extensive talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on key bilateral, regional and international issues, including the Middle East peace process. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Gopal Baglay in his tweet said, "Welcoming an important guest. Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine arrives in Delhi,"<br/>'<br/>Ahead of Abbas' visit, India reiterated its "political support" to the Palestinian cause and had said it continued to assist developmental projects there. The visit will provide an opportunity for reviewing the<br/>entire gamut of bilateral relations, the Middle East peace process, and regional and international issues, external affairs ministry said. Several MoUs on cooperation in various areas are also expected to be signed during the visit, the ministry added. A delegation-level discussion between President Abbas and Prime Minister Modi will be held on May 16.<br/> '<br/>The ministry had said in a release yesterday that India and Palestine enjoy historically close and friendly ties.
