Bangalore Police today said that Pakistan’s Inter Services Agency purportedly engaged underworld don Dawood Ibrahim to instigate Maoists in the India to commit subversive activities on payment basis. Addressing a press conference in Bangaluru, City Commissioner of Police Shankar Bidari said that the interrogation of arrested operatives Devaiah and Vinay Kumar has revealed that the underworld don operating from abroad directed his accomplice Chota Shakeel to engage Altaf, a native of Dakshina Kannada District in the state to establish contact with leaders of the Maoist movement within the country. The investigation made by the City Crime Branch has further revealed that Altaf staying abroad now, made concerted efforts to establish contacts with Maoist leaders in India through Devaiah. Investigation has also revealed that an amount of four lakh rupees is already paid to some of the Maoist groups in Hyderabad and efforts made to fly some of them from Hyderabad to Dubai. The Commissioner said efforts to unearth the entire network are in progress. He added that arrangements have been made for issue of a Red Corner Notice in respect of Altaf, who is now operating from abroad.
