Pakistan's claim of Indian submarine entering its territorial waters is bogus: Indian Navy

Indian Navy today said Pakistan's claim of Indian submarine entering its territorial waters is bogus. Addressing the media ahead of annual Navy Day in New Delhi, Admiral Sunil Lanba said, India will deploy submarines where ever there is operational necessity.<br/><br/> He also said, Indian Navy is keeping a close eye on Chinese ships in the Indian Ocean region. Navy Chief said, India has maritime domain awareness of the deployment of People's Liberation Army (PLA) naval forces in the Indian Ocean. <br/><br/>He said, Indian Navy launches surveillance missions in the form of aircraft and ships to keep a track of them. In response to a question on Indian Navy's capabilities in the Pacific region, Navy chief said, the Navy is well within its capabilities to operate in the region. He also sought to downplay the Bangladesh Navy acquiring its first submarines from China, saying India has a plan in place that takes into account what is happening in the neighborhood. <br/><br/>When asked about the South China sea dispute, the Navy chief said maritime issues should be solved as per United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Navy chief added that the Kalavari Class Scorpene submarine will be commissioned next year. <br/><br/>Admiral Lanba said, the Navy has also advanced its capacity building and capability enhancement initiatives with navies and maritime security agencies this year.<br/><br/> He said, Navy have trained almost one thousand personnel from over 40 navies in the training establishments. It continued to deploy the ships and aircraft for EEZ patrols off Maldives, Seychelles and Mauritius and provisioned ships, aircraft, helicopters and simulators, to friendly regional navies. <br/><br/>He said, Indian Navy has accorded the highest priority to India's neighbourhood in keeping with Government's neighbourhood first policy. Indian ships have visited various ports and engaged with navies of countries in the Bay of Bengal, Southeast Asia, Sri Lanka and Maldives in 2016.
