Pakistani troops initiate unprovoked, indiscriminate firing along LoC in Keri sector, Rajouri district

In Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistani troops initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing with small arms and heavy mortar shelling along the Line of Control in Keri sector of Nowshera area of Rajouri district in the wee hours today. The Indian troops retaliated in the befitting manner.<br />'' <br />''AIR correspondent reports that a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of 14 Punjab Regiment was martyred in this exchange of fire between Indian and Pakistani troops. Public Relations Officer of Defence Ministry Colonel Davinder Anand has said that Pakistan resorted to ceasefire violation early morning today and used small arms and heavy mortar shelling along the LoC in Keri sector in which a soldier sustained bullet injuries and attained martrydom. He was immediately shifted to the Army facility, but he succumbed.  <br />'' <br />''The PRO further said that the Indian Army guarding the fence are retaliating befitting to the Pakistan side with equal caliber and the exchange of fire continued till the reports last came in. Further details are awaited. This year so far, 1,793 ceasefire violations have been recorded along the LoC in J&K districts close to the LoC and International Border.<br />
