Pakistani troops again violate ceasefire along LoC in J&K ; Army JCO killed

In Jammu and Kashmir, an Army officer was killed when Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC), firing on Indian positions in Mandi area of Poonch sector. The heavy firing continued for two hours today killing a Junior Commissioned Army officer. Quoting Defence sources AIR correspondent reports that , the Indian Army exercised restraint and did not retaliate.

The Army has launched a massive search operation in the area to ensure that no infiltrator has sneaked into this side in the cover of Pakistani troops’ firing. This is for the fourth time in last two weeks that Pakistani forces have violated the ceasefire along the LoC. On May 31, Pakistani troops had fired at Indian positions in Nowgam sector of Kashmir valley but there was no casualty. The Defence Spokesman said that the vigil along the LoC has been increased as the ceasefire violations could be a diversionary tactic to push terrorists into the Valley from Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
