Pakistani terrorist Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab was held guilty of mass murder and waging war against the nation in the Mumbai attacks case by a special court.<br/><br/><br/>In the fastest-ever trial of terror attack cases in India, the 26/11 Mumbai court pronounced its verdict yesterday.<br/><br/>It held the lone surviving Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab guilty of all 86 charges that were framed against him by the prosecution. Whereas, the two other co-accused Indian LeT operatives Fahim Ansari and Sabahuddin Ahmed were pronounced not guilty by the special court for lack of evidence. <br/><br/>Criticizing the Mumbai Crime Branch, Judge Tahiliyani let the two men off saying that the evidence against them had neither quality nor quantity. <br/><br/>The court held Kasab's first confessional statement as genuine and observed that the 26/11 terror attack was a case of state sponsored terrorism, with a clear trail being found from Karachi to Mumbai. <br/><br/>The court also said that this whole conspiracy was hatched in Pakistan and said that 20 of the wanted accused, including LeT founder Hafiz Saeed, operations chief Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi and Abu Hamza, and were involved in 26/11 conspiracy. The arguments for the quantum of sentence will be presented today by the defence and prosecution.<br/><br/>Public Prosecutor, Ujjwal Nikam speaking to reporters after the verdict was pronounced said that he was satisfied with Kasab's conviction. As for the acquittal of Indians accused, he said that this is not the final verdict and he would recommend the state government to appeal in the higher court. <br/><br/>Maharashtra's Home Minister, Mr. R R Patil has said that the state government would now request the Center to ask Pakistan to hand over the 20 accused who have named by Kasab.
