Pakistani troops have resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing on 22 border outposts and 13 villages, in R S Pura Sector in Jammu district of Jammu and Kashmir in which a child and his Father were killed. Six persons including a BSF jawan were also injured in the incident . The BSF Jawan is reported to have suffered injury in left leg and has been shifted to Govt Medical College Hospital in Jammu, whose condition is stated to be stable.Over 3000 people living in border hamlets have been evacuated to safe areas under a contingency plan, enforced today .
Defence sources told AIR that 12 Chenab Rangers of Pakistan forces targeted BSF Border Outposts in Arnia sub sector in RS Pura sector along International Border last night . It also pounded on Pittal and Tent Guard posts around 12:40 A.M. Later, around 1:30 A.M. the Pakistan Rangers started firing on Chinaaz, Kot – Kubba, Budhwar, SH – Way, Jabbowal, Chhowani, Nikkowal and Bulle Chack Border posts. The exchange of fire was extended to several other BoPs in R S Pura main sector which continued till 07:45 this morning. Sources said Pakistan forces used small and large weapons, which was befittingly retaliated from the Indian forces with equal caliber weapons.
AIR Jammu Correspondent reports that though inhabitants in both Arnia and RS Pura sectors have came out of their homes for attending to their day to day routine work, however an atmosphere of fear psychosis is still prevailing these areas.
The last night’s firing is the 14th ceasefire violation in the past thirteen days along the Indo-Pak border by Pakistani troops. The heavy firing and shelling came after the discovery of a possible cross-border tunnel from PoK along LoC in Chalka post in Pallanwala sector of Jammu district yesterday.
