Pakistan PM expresses happiness at resumption of India- Pakistan dialogue

Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani today expressed happiness at the resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan saying both he and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh were committed to work for peace and prosperity in the region. Before leaving Pakistan this morning Gilani said, he was happy that the talks in New Delhi between the Home Secretaries of both countries were conducted in a positive manner. He said, both leaders want the environment to improve so that they can serve the people. Gilani also said he expected his visit to lead to some progress between the two countries and an improvement in Indo-Pak relations. Mr Gilani said his visit will also give a boost to Pakistan's cricket team.Thanking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for inviting him to watch the match, Mr Gilani said he was travelling to Mohali to show solidarity with the Pakistani and Indian teams and to promote cricket. Mr Gilani said he has come to India keeping in mind the feelings of the two countries. He said, both teams have qualified for the semi-final and he is very hopeful that their performance will be very good.Responding to another question on whether he would ask Dr. Singh to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan, Mr Gilani said, his country is passing through some difficult times and are fighting the war on terrorism. He said, Pakistan leadership and people are united on creating a conducive environment in the country and if a better environment is created, he will certainly make the request to Dr. Singh.
