Pakistan has launched a countrywide census, the first in nearly two decades. The census, started yesterday with the assistance of over 2 lakh troops, is being conducted in two phases. At least one soldier will accompany each civilian enumerator going from house to house to enlist the number of households and individuals living there.<br/><br/>The census will be completed on 25th of May. The final outcome would be known by July and it may lead to demarcation of constituencies ahead of the General elections next year.<br/><br/>The country last conducted a census in 1998, which recorded a national population of approximately 180 million at that time.
