Pakistan is not doing enough to curb terrorist outfits operating from its soil

The Union Defence Minister Mr A K Antony has accused Pakistan government of not taking enough steps to curb the activities of terrorist outfits operating within its border, despite repeated requests. Addressing media persons in Kochi today, Mr Antony expressed concern that a large number of terrorists are waiting on the Indo-Pak border to infiltrate into Kashmir. He, however said the overall situation in Kashmir has not worsened when compared to the situation last year. The Defence Minister said India is not a war-mongering nation, and despite differences with some of its neighbours, the country is trying to improve its relations with them. Mr Antony said the country is in the process of acquiring 20 fast patrol boats, 41 interceptor boats, 12 coastal surveillance aircraft and seven offshore patrol vehicles to enhance coastal security. A chain of 46 static radars being installed at nine coastal stations in the country is also being completed. Earlier, Mr Antony presented Tatrakshak medals for gallantry and meritorious service to the personnel of the Coast Guard at an impressive investiture ceremony held at the Coast Guard Station at Fort Cochin
