Pakistan: Human Rights Commission urges govt to withdraw restrictions on journalist

In Pakistan, the Human Rights Commission has urged the government to withdraw all restrictions on daily Dawn journalist Cyril Almeida and address the grievances in accordance with the law. A report in the newspaper, quoting a statement of the Commission, said, barring Almeida from traveling abroad will cause distress to all those who believe in the freedom of expression and the rights of journalists.<br/><br/>The report said, authorities are overreacting to a story, which touches on journalists' responsibilities in times of trial. Cyril Almeida, who wrote the news report titled – Act against militants or face international isolation, civilians tell military, was put on the country's exit control list after the Prime Minister's Office issued three contradictions to the report.
