Pakistan today handed over Rashtriya Rifles soldier Chandu Chavan to Indian authorities at Wagah border. The Sepoy was handed over to Indian representatives at 3:45 PM. <br/><br/>Army spokesperson in a statement said, to ensure the release of Chavan the matter was taken up with Pakistani Military authorities through the existing Hotline and scheduled DGMO level talks. The issue was also taken up diplomatically through High Commission in Pakistan and Ministry of External Affairs.<br/><br/>The soldier had inadvertently crossed over to Pakistan side on September last year, just hours after surgical strike across Line of Control. <br/><br/>The Army had said, such crossings are not unusual on either side and jawans and civilians are returned through existing mechanism. Chavan was posted in Mendhar distict of Jammu and Kashmir near the LoC when he went missing.
