Pakistan forces resumed heavy firing and shelling in RS Pura sector in J&K along international border

In Jammu and Kashmir, after two-day’s lull, Pakistan forces resumed heavy firing and shelling in RS Pura sector along the international border Saturday night which left two civilians injured. Defence sources said, Pakistan forces started unprovoked firing, targeting 15 forward posts and civilian locations in Arnia and Chakroi areas of RS Pura sector, around 9 pm, which was retaliated by the troops of BSF guarding the international border.

The exchange of fire that lasted for 12 hours stopped around 9 am this morning. The shelling hit Arnia town besides villages of Kuku-De-Kothay, Mahasha-de-kothe, Jabowal, Treva, Chingia, Alla, Saiee, Chenaz and Devigarh. Dozens of shells landed and exploded in deserted Arnia town. However, there is no report of any major civilian causality as people from the entire border belt have already migrated to safer areas. Earlier Saturday, Pakistani troops had resorted to firing on forward Indian posts and civilian areas along the LoC in Kerni and Shahpur sub-sectors of Poonch district.

The IB and LoC in Jammu region has witnessed heavy firing this month that has so far left eight persons dead and 90 others, including 13 security men, injured. Around 35 thousand people have fled from their border homes and presently putting up in relief camps and other places.
