Pakistan forces resort to heavy firing along LoC

In Jammu and Kashmir, more reports of incidents of ceasefire violations have come with Pakistan forces resorting to heavy firing at four places along the Line of Control (LoC) on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Defence PRO, the forces across the LoC started unprovoked firing on Indian positions in Mendhar, Hamirpur, Banwat and Guntrian sectors of Poonch district. The firing with medium and heavy arms prompted the Army troops guarding the borderline to retaliate effectively.

The exchange of fire was going on till reports last came in. However there are no reports of any loss of life on the Indian side so far. AIR correspondent reports that there is no further report of major firing from across the International Border so far on Tuesday.

The heavy firing by the Pakistan forces that started on Monday night along the International Border in Kanachack, R.S. Pura and Pargwal sectors of Jammu and stopped this morning left 10 people injured. The people from the affected areas are being shifted to safer places.

Around 10 thousand people from the worst affected areas have been taking shelter in relief camps and other places. The leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday toured the firing affected areas of R.S. Pura Sector and interacted with the people staying in relief camps.
