Pakistan flood: 400 dead, rescue ops on

In Pakistan, rescue workers and troops in northwest Pakistan are struggling to reach thousands of people affected by the worst floods as the death toll crossed 400. Hundreds of homes have been destroyed in the northwest and Pak occupied Kashmir, with the main highway to China reportedly cut off as monsoon rains caused flash floods and landslides. A Provincial Minister said this was the worst-ever flood in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the country's history. At least six lakh people have been affected and the number was likely to go up as river levels continue to rise. Peshawar, the main city in the northwest, and the districts of Swat and Shangla remain cut off from the rest of country as roads and highways are submerged in water.
