Pakistan has dropped its tainted Cricket trio- Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamir – from its series against England. But, its High Commissioner in London Wajid S Hasan, claimed that the players decided to opt out and they were not dropped. After a meeting with them in London, he said the players took the decision due to the mental torture after being accused of involvement in the spot-fixing scandal.Defending the players, Hasan insisted that they remain innocent until proven guilty.Hasan also rejected reports that the players are due to be grilled by the Scotland Yard today. He said the three will remain in England for the investigations. Hasan said the players morale is low but they will not run away from the investigations.Meanwhile, actress-model Veena Malik known to Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Asif, has handed over proof of his alleged links with Indian bookies to an official of the ICC's Anti-Corruption Unit. Hasan Raza, who is a top official of the ICC's Anti-Corruption Unit for South Asia, met Malik at her residence in Lahore last evening after she alleged that Asif was involved in match-fixing and she had ample proof of this. The three players are implicated in a spot-fixing scandal exposed in a British tabloid's sting operation last week. The trio's axing comes after intense pressure from the ICC and the host England Cricket Board after they made it clear that players had to be dropped for the series to go on. The Twenty20 and one-day series are to start on Sunday.
