Pakistan court to hear former PM Nawaz Sharif's appeal against his conviction in corruption case

<span style="color: #222222;">A Pakistani court will hear today the appeal of jailed former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif against his conviction in a corruption case.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Sharif has been serving a seven-year prison term in Lahore since last December. The accountability court convicted him in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills case – one of the three corruption cases filed in the wake of the apex court's 2017 order in the Panama Papers scandal.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He later filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court against his conviction. The court began hearing the petition last month.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Sharif and his family have denied any wrongdoing and alleged that the corruption cases against them were politically motivated.</span><br />''  <br />
