Terming Al-Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden's killing as the victorious milestone in the global war against terrorism, India today called upon the world not to let down its united effort to eliminate the safe havens of terrorism. Such heavens have been provided to the terrorists in India's neighborhood. In a statement issued in New Delhi the external affairs minister S M Krishna said that this operation brings to closure an almost decade-long search for the head of the al Qaeda. Noting the development as a historic and victorious milestone, Mr. Krishana said that over the years, thousands of innocent lives of men, women and children have been tragically lost at the hands of terrorist groups. In a separate statement the Home Minister P Chidambarm said, that the killing of global terrorist Osama bin Laden underlines New Delhi's apprehension that terrorists belonging to different organizations find sanctuary in Pakistan. The Minister said the perpetrators of Mumbai terror attack, including the controllers and handlers of the terrorists, continue to be sheltered in Pakistan. He called upon the Pakistan government to arrest the persons whose names have been handed over to the Interior Minister of Pakistan as well as provide voice samples of certain persons who are suspected to be among the controllers and handlers of the terrorists. Chidambaram said that earlier today the US government informed New Delhi that bin Laden had been killed by security forces somewhere deep inside Pakistan. He said that the US had reason to go after Osama and bring him to justice.
