Pak Wicket-keeper Haider retires from international cricket

Pakistani cricketer Zulqarnain Haider has told a Pakistani television station that he is retiring from the international game after being threatened by match fixers. Haider is now in Britain where he said he may seek asylum. Zulqarnain Haider arrived in London yesterday while his team mates were playing South Africa in Dubai. His family said the Pakistan wicket keeper had left in a hurry because he had been threatened by some one linked to match fixing, some thing the player himself has now confirmed in an interview on Pakistani television. He said he had been approached by an un-named person who wanted Pakistan to lose the fourth and fifth games at the one-day series against South Africa. Zulqarnain Haider said he received death threats after he scored the winning runs in the 4th match last Friday.
