Home Minister P Chidambaram has asserted that the security and Intelligence agencies will remain ever vigilant to avoid any 26/11 Mumbai like attack.
Talking to media in New Delhi yesterday while presenting his Ministry's monthly report, he said that Syed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal, the key operator of the 26/11 Mumbai attack, had a safe haven in Pakistan.
Mr. Chidambaram said, India believes that the control room could not have been established without state support.
The Home Minister said that Pakistan should admit that Abu Jundal did go there and he was present in the control room established for the 26/11 terror attacks. Mr Chidambaram said that LeT founder Hafiz Saeed was also in the control room in Pakistan with Jundal during 26/11 Mumbai carnage.
Jundal was stationed there for the first 24 hours of the terror attack in Mumbai. After 26/11, as India pressured Pakistan to take action against those involved, Jundal was moved to Rawalpindi from Karachi.
Mr. Chidambaram also added that Pakistan has also not responded to India’s request for sending Judicial Commission in connection with 26/11 terror attack’s further investigations.
In a reply to a question related to talks with ULFA leaders in New Delhi, Home Secretary R K Singh said that infrastructure development in Assam; formation of legislative council in the state and inclusion of some tribes in the Scheduled Tribes category, were some of the issues which were discussed during the meeting.
