In Pakistan, over 3,100 people were killed in terror attacks in the last 3 years. This information was given by Interior Minister Rehman Malik said in a written reply to a question in the upper house of Parliament. He said there were over 2400 acts of terrorism during in 2 years from 2008. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province bore the brunt of suicide attacks, which killed 1,524 people in the region. Punjab recorded 605 deaths, Sindh 134, Islamabad 125 and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir 11. Malik said the government had banned four groups – Lashkar-e-Islam, Ansar-ul-Islam, the Haji Namdar group and Tehrik-e-Taliban Punjab – in June and August 2008.
