Pakistan's Law Ministry has sent a summary to the Interior Ministry for the immediate release of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh. According to reports in the Pakistani media, President Asif Ali Zardari today changed the sentence of Sarabjit Singh to life in prison.

Sarabjit Singh had been sentenced to death after he was convicted for his alleged involvement in the 1990 Multan and Lahore bomb attacks. He is currently imprisoned in the Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore. The family of Singh had appealed to President Zardari for his release during the president’s visit to India.
