Pakistani security forces have killed at least 27 pro-Taliban militants in the tribal belt. Officials said today eighteen militants were killed in a gun battle that erupted after they attacked a check post in the restive Orakzai tribal region.In the Kurram tribal region, nine militants were killed and 10 more injured when troops repulsed a raid on a security check post in Dogar area.Military officials have claimed that over 200 militants have been killed in Orakzai since an operation was launched in the region last month to flush them out.
