Pak receives new pledges of financial assistance to deal with flood situation

The authorities in Pakistan say they have received new pledges of aid totaling more than three hundred million dollars to deal with disastrous floods which have swamped large parts of the country. But the UN says, millions of flood victims have not received any aid. UN emergency relief operation said on Monday that it has only received a third of the money it needed. The UN relief organisation says access to flood victims has increased and their own capacity to respond. Pakistan's UN envoy in Geneva said he believed the international community still needed to understand how serious the situation is.
