Pakistan has proposed to India for withdrawal of troops from Siachen. Defence Minister AK Antony gave this information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha yesterday. The proposal comes close on the heels of a recent avalanche in the region resulting in heavy casualties of Pakistani troops. Mr Antony also informed the House that during his meeting with the Prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh in April this year, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari had pointed out the need to address all bilateral issues, including Sir Creek, Siachen and Jammu and Kashmir. Mr Antony said, both the leaders felt the need to move forward step by step to find pragmatic and mutually acceptable solutions to all these issues.
