Pak PM expresses confidence that Krishna’s visit to Pakistan pave the way for further dialogue
Ahead of the External Affairs Minister Mr. S.M. Krishna three-day visit to Islamabad, Pakistan Prime Minister has expressed confidence that the meeting will be fruitful and will pave the way for further dialogue. Mr. Yousuf Raza Gilani said that Pakistan is desirous of a negotiated and peaceful resolution of all disputes with India.

Mr. Krishna is arriving in Islamabad later this afternoon. The main focus of the talks with his Pakistani counter part will be bridging the trust deficit between the two countries. AIR correspondent reports from Islamabad that India is expected to impress upon Pakistan to take effective and transparent action against the perpetrators of the Mumbai attack.

Other wise it may be difficult to pave the way for a more substantive dialogue in the future. India is keen to focus on relaxation of the visa regime, people-to-people contacts, more trade, cross-border trains and buses, as well as exchange of prisoners.
The Cabinet Committee on Security discussed the issues to be taken up in the talks in New Delhi. It reviewed the talks between the foreign secretaries and home ministers of the two countries last month. This is the first visit of an Indian foreign minister to Pakistan since the November 2008 Mumbai terror attack. During his stay in Islamabad, Mr. Krishna will call on the Pakistan President and the Prime Minister to exchange views on the issues of mutual interest. AIR correspondent adds that there is an air of expectancy about the out come of the talks with the presence of a large contingent of Indian media in Islamabad.
