In Pakistan, at least 40 militants were killed when helicopter gun ships pounded their hide outs in a tribal area near Afghanistan border. Officials said today that security forces launched a search operation in Mohmand tribal district following insurgent attacks on five check posts yesterday in which 11 paramilitary soldiers were killed.
