ndia says, Pakistan must interrogate and investigate the role of Hafiz Saeed in Mumbai terror attacks. Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram said, though two FIRs have been registered against Saeed by Pakistani police in different cases, his role in Mumbai attacks must also be probed. He said, India has provided good solid documentary evidence to Islamabad about Saeed's movements between December 2007 and November, 2008. Calling him the Prime suspect of Mumbai attacks, Mr. Chidambaram said in a TV interview that Pakistan must demonstrate its determination to punish the culprits after a fair trial. He said, even nine months after the deadly attacks, the guilty are roaming free. In reply to a question, Mr. Chidambaram said, the main hurdle in the normalization of relations with Pakistan is the failure of Islamabad to apprehend and punish the perpetrators of Mumbai carnage.Earlier, Pakistani police has registered two cases against JuD chief Hafiz Saeed in Faisalabad, for inciting people to wage jehad, holy war, against infidels. According to police, Saeed had attended Iftar-dinners and held a meeting with activists of his banned Jamaat-ud-Dawah organisation last month urging them to wage a jehad. The police action against Saeed comes days ahead of a proposed meeting between the Foreign Ministers and Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York.
