Pakistan pipes down after war of words for 2 days with India. Both Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi made conciliatory statements today saying that they want continuation of the bilateral dialogue with New Delhi. They said they are serious about normalisation of Indo-Pak ties.<br/><br/>Their statements come in the the backdrop of the war of words between the two sides after talks between their Foreign Ministers on Thursday failed to make any headway.<br/><br/>Gilani described Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as an honourable man and said Pakistan wants the continuation of dialogue with India. He said Dr. Manmohan Singh has assured him that all issues will be discussed. He was responding to a question on the sidelines of a function in Lahore on the talks between Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his Indian counterpart S M Krishna. <br/><br/>In Islamabad, Qureshi, who had yesterday blamed India for lack of progress in the talks, said today that Pakistan is very serious about normalising bilateral ties so that the two sides can make a new beginning of normal relations.<br/><br/>Earlier, Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao has maintained that the talks have not collapsed. In an interview to a TV channel she said, there are differences in perception but gap not unbridgeable. Ms Rao said that the tone and tenor of Qureshi's remarks could have been better. She said, in diplomacy, such ups and downs are common.
