New Delhi expects Pakistan’s Judicial Commission to visit India soon to carry forward the process of bringing the conspirators of 26/11 Mumbai Blast to justice.
Speaking to media persons on Prime Minister’s forthcoming visit to Maldives to participate in 17th South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation, SAARC Summit, Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai said, Dr. Manmohan Singh, in principle, has agreed to have bilateral meetings with all the members of SAARC including Pakistan. He said, there have been some positive indicators of forward movement from Islamabad.
Mathai said, Prime Minister is committed to building relations with Pakistan on a more stable and normal basis. He added that trade is one aspect on which India has been holding out the hand of cooperation to Pakistan.
The foreign Secretary informed that Prime Minister would leave on 9th of this month for Maldives. He said during the summit, wide range of issues would be discussed. These issues include poverty alleviation, food security, environmental concerns and regional trade and commerce. Deliberations on South Asia Free Trade Agreement, SAFTA will also be held.
The Foriegn Secretary said, measures to speed up trade among the SAARC countries, which has doubled in last 2 years to reach 1.3 billion dollars, will also be discussed. Disaster management and assistance among the SAARC members will be one of the main issues to be disscused.
Mathai said that Prime Minister will also visit Maldives’ Parliament- People’s Majalis.
