The Pakistan government has sought the extension of Mumbai attacks mastermind and Jamaat-ud-Dawa Chief Hafiz Saeed's detention under the public safety law. The move comes two days after the government withdrew its application to prolong Saeed's house arrest under the anti-terrorism law.<br/><br/>The Jamaat-ud-Dawa Chief, who has been under house arrest since January, was presented before a three-member Punjab provincial judicial review board in Lahore. The detention period is scheduled to expire on the 24th of this month.<br/><br/>The board issued notices to Advocate General Punjab and foreign and interior secretaries to appear before it tomorrow to tell as to why the government wants the extension.<br/><br/>Under the law, the government can detain a person for up to three months under different charges. The government can extend the detention only after the approval from the judicial review board.
