Pak floods render lakhs homeless; Govt. issues fresh warning on floods

In Pakistan, the catastrophic floods that caused unprecedented destruction in northwest Pakistan have left thousands of victims in a state of grief and shock over losing their relatives and life-long savings. Most of the survivors wanted to return to their home even as the government is providing us all possible facilities. In Nowshera, one of the worst-hit areas villagers picked through rubble hoping to find food. A breakout of water-borne diseases such as cholera would pose new risks.Pakistan issued new flood warnings as the country faced a serious humanitarian disaster after downpours which have affected 3.2 million people and killed up to 1,500. Pakistan's weather bureau has forecast widespread rains in the southern province of Sindh, Punjab, Pak-occupied Kashmir, the hard-hit northwest and southwestern Baluchistan over the next three days.Meanwhile, army chief Gen Ashfaq Kayani announced the donation of one day salary of all ranks of Pakistan Army to the prime minister's relief fund for those affected by the floods.
