Pak firing kills 2 Army jawans, one woman

In Jammu and Kashmir, two army jawans and a woman were killed while 11 people were injured as Pakistani troops targeted villages and security posts at various places since last night.

The firing triggered migration of hundreds of people from some border areas. While the firing and shelling continued, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire along the LoC near Kanhaiyah Post last night by firing rocket propelled grenades into Tanghdar area, police officials said. Two jawans were also injured.

Earlier, along the International Border, Pakistani troops targeted villages and 13 border outposts with heavy mortar shelling in Kathua and Samba districts of Jammu region, leading to death of a woman and injuries to eight others. Shelling of villages triggered panic and migration from border villages and over 1400 people have been evacuated from hamlets in Samba and Kathua district, officials said.

Four persons, including two women, were also injured in Nauchak village in Kathua.

After a few hours lull, Pakistan forces again resorted to heavy firing and shelling in Samba and Ramgarh sectors along the Indo-Pak international border around 5 pm Saturday evening.

Besides, forward Indian border posts, forces from across the border are also targeting the civilian areas.

The BSF guarding the border, has been giving a befitting reply. The exchange of fire was going on till the last report came in.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh regretted that Pakistan is repeatedly targeting border areas of India despite being offered a hand of friendship.

AIR correspondent reports, later in the evening, the Pakistan forces again opened fronts in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district also which was retaliated by the BSF.

The exchange of fire is still going on intermittantly.

Some of the border villages have been evacuated completely and people from most of the border areas have started migrating to relief camps and other safer places.

The army has also joined hands with the civil administration in carrying out relief and rescue operations.
