Pak can't guarantee preventing any future terror strike in India: Gilani

New Delhi objected to Pakistan Prime Minister's remarks that his country cannot guarantee that there will not be a repeat of the Mumbai like terror attacks. The reaction of External Affairs Ministry comes immediately after Pakistan Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani made such a statement in Islamabad yesterday. He was quoted in the media as having told to the visiting US Defence Secretary, Robert Gates that Islamabad is experiencing Mumbai like attacks almost everyday. An External Affairs Ministry spokesman said in New Delhi that by making such statements, Pakistan cannot absolve itself of its responsibility. India has been regularly asking Pakistan to take action against the terrorists involved in Mumbai terror attacks as the patience of the people in India is running thin. A Pakistani statement quoting Gilani as saying that Islamabad is committed to peace in the region and is making sincere efforts to resume the composite dialogue with India. Meanwhile, after the US Defence Secretary, Mr. Robert Gates warned Pakistan that another terror attack on India could destabilise the region, Britain also urged Islamabad to take tangible steps to tackle the Lasher-e-Tayyaba network operating along its border with India. The British High Commissioner, Richard Stagg told reporters in New Delhi that Pakistan needs to rein in Taliban militants on its Afghan border.
