Pakistan Friday canceled all celebrations of its Independence day, being observed on August 14, over the worst floods. Presidentialspokesman Farhatullah Babar said in Islamabad today that President Asif Ali Zardari has cancelled August 14 function at Presidency and will spend the day in the northwest Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa and eastern Punjab provinces. Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani also cancelled function at the Prime Minister house. All the money will be spent in relief activities for the floods-hit people, an Army statement said.
