Reports say that Pakistani army resorted to fresh firing yesterday evening at several Indian posts in the Krishna Ghati and Sona Gali sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.
PMO sources told All India Radio that the Defence Secretary and the National Security Advisor have apprised the Prime Minister of the current situation on the LOC.
Meanwhile, there has been no response from the Pakistani side so far to India's call for a Brigadier level Flag meeting at the Line of Control to defuse tension between the two countries.
Defence Minister A.K. Antony said yesterday that there are enough troops in jammu and Kashmir and the government is taking all steps to protect the interests of the country. The Minister said, the government is closely monitoring the developments and troops are on alert.
Official spokesperson in the Ministry of external affairs in New Delhi said, that Indian high commissioner in Islamabad during his meeting with Pakistan Foreign secretary stressed the need for holding the sanctity of LoC and adherence of the Simla Agreement to sort out bilateral issues. The spokesperson also reiterated India's position that it was capable of resolving the issue bilaterally and rejected the role of the UN or any third party. He also noted that DGMO's of both the countries were in regular touch.
Meanwhile, the cross LOC trade and transit traffic remains suspended.
