The Pakistan's army is engaged in fierce fighting for the third day running as it continues its drive against al-Qaeda and Taliban strongholds in mountainous region of Southern Waziristan near the Afghan Border. Both sides are using heavy weapons. Reports say Pakistani jets and artillery pounded Taliban bases on Sunday killing 60 militants in the region. At least 20,000 people have fled the area over the last week to the nearby Dera Ismail Khan.
