Pakistan army is advancing towards the Taliban positions in the Waziristan tribal areas as authorities imposed a curfew in the entire region. The advance on Mehsud tribal positions began this morning after a go-ahead was given by the government for starting an offensive on Taliban stronghold at a meeting attended by the top political and military leadership. Curfew was imposed in North and South Waziristan early this morning as troops began moving towards the areas inhabited by the Mehsud tribe, described as the main stronghold of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan led by Hakimullah Mehsud.Officials said the curfew was imposed to protect troops moving towards Taliban bases. Geo News channel reported that two soldiers were killed and three injured when a roadside bomb exploded as the troops were moving towards Razmak, the main military base in North Waziristan.
